“Antibiotic Resistance Set to be a Greater Threat to Mankind than Cancer” – George Osborne

“Antibiotic Resistance Set to be a Greater Threat to Mankind than Cancer” – George Osborne

A pretty punchy statement from our Chancellor quoted in many newspapers last month.  He goes on to say that without new drugs, it’s estimated that by 2050 common infections will be responsible for ten million deaths around the world per year, whereas cancer is currently at eight million. A pretty scary thought!

The main problem is that since they were invented in c.1938, antibiotics have been used so widely, in humans, animals and cleaning products, that now many bacteria are resistant to them.

Often people turn to antibiotics as their first point of call before trying any other remedies, mainly because they don’t know what else is out there. However, the good news is that many more people are very health conscious and don’t like the idea of pumping their bodies with medication unnecessarily.

This growing awareness and thirst for ‘alternative’ remedies and products to achieve the same results as antibiotics is very encouraging, especially when people find that the antibiotics aren’t helping them. If you do some digging about your particular condition you will find a wealth of information and ideas to try, and we’ve found many people have turned to using Active Silver for this reason, with some great results!

If you are interested to find out more about antibiotic resistance and what’s being done to address it globally, there’s a great website http://antibiotic-action.com/ and a good thought provoking video: https://youtu.be/bKK8sNfEsto

Interestingly the Japanese government has an action plan to reduce the use of antibiotics to two-thirds of the current level by 2020, in efforts to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
