Our Colloidal Silver is a liquid suspension of microscopic pure silver particles, in ultra-pure water.  It's made using the latest technology in our purpose-built laboratory, with just two natural ingredients – pure silver and pure water.

Silver has long been valued for its natural wellness properties. Roman soldiers reportedly used silver in wound care, and as far back as Ancient Greece, silver coins were added to containers to keep water/milk and food milk fresh. 

Kings and Emperors reportedly stored food in silver containers and used silver utensils/plates/cups, as it’s believed the minute particles of silver that wore off and mixed with their food protected them against bacteria.

In the early 20th Century, Colloidal Silver was used by doctors but its use declined after 1938 when antibiotics were introduced. However, we are seeing resistance to antibiotics, and since the 1970s there has been a renewed interest in Colloidal Silver.

At Active Silver, our Colloidal Silver is produced at a concentration of 10ppm (parts per million), and 25ppm. Ppm is the number of silver particles within a given volume.

Active Silver’s Colloidal Silver is clear in colour or may have a very slight pale hue. Clear Colloidal Silver indicates a smaller particle size, and small particle size is key for an effective Colloidal Silver as it is easier for the body to absorb, process and eliminate.

Darker colours (yellow or amber) can be an indication of larger particles of silver that reflect light, or added compounds (salts/proteins) that some people may use to speed up the manufacturing, oxidation or other impurities.

Colloidal silver is authorised for sale as a cosmetic product in the EU and UK, as long as regulation and testing is adhered to. Colloidal Silver is not permitted to be sold as a food supplement or medicine.

There is no regulation regarding the manufacturing processes for Colloidal Silver, and sadly there are some companies that have tarnished the reputation of this industry by trying to cut corners. Therefore, some health organisations have ruled that the product is both ineffective and potentially dangerous, which is why there is so much conflicting information out there. At Active Silver, we put all our products through rigorous testing to ensure they are safe to use.

Natural products are not usually tested with clinical trials; they are unable to be patented and therefore don’t make money for pharmaceutical companies. This doesn’t mean they don’t work. There may be a lack of medical evidence for natural remedies, but if they work, most people chose to use them!

We are compliant with MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority) who ensure healthcare products meet the appropriate standards for safety, quality and efficacy.

To be compliant we are therefore unable to make claims about our products, even though they pass the EU cosmetic testing as having antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, we are unable to say this or what conditions and ailments they can help our customers with.

We recommend you store Active Silver products in a cool, dark place and out of reach of children. You can put them in the fridge to prolong shelf life (except for the lip balm), but not the freezer. The products should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
Exposing the product to high temperatures for short periods (e.g.100F / 37.5C) won't affect the quality, but do avoid storing it in the car or on a windowsill during summer.

As Colloidal Silver is neither a food supplement or a medicine, we are unable to give dosage information.

There’s no need to dilute our Colloidal Silver. It can be put directly onto skin, into ears and eyes or added to food, cooled boiled or distilled water. Avoid mixing Colloidal Silver with tap water as the chlorine content can oxidise the silver and it won't be as effective.

Alongside the topical products, pets can take Colloidal Silver orally. It is best to give orally without dilution, either straight into the mouth or added to food or cooled boiled water. For a rough idea, you can give a kitten 1-5ml a day, or a horse 30-50ml a day.

We would always advise you to speak to your health care practitioner. Be aware your doctor may not promote a natural remedy over a medically recognised drug.

There are very few side effects or reactions to Colloidal Silver. One exception is that Colloidal Silver, in some cases, can affect absorption of thyroid medication so we would advise you to not ingest Colloidal Silver if on thyroid medication – but it would be ok to use topically.

Very few people are allergic or intolerant to silver or gold, but if you have any concerns, try a patch test by applying a drop onto the skin. Redness could indicate intolerance.

The rapid elimination of pathogens/bad cells can sometimes initially make you feel worse. Watch for mild skin irritations, which should clear up quickly and are an indication to slightly reduce the amount.

There is also a myth that your skin could turn blue. This is exactly that, a myth. There are many home-brew kits or people who don’t manufacture Colloidal Silver correctly which give it a bad name. Argyria, a blue/grey discolouration of the skin, is a very very rare condition from over-exposure to extreme quantities of silver deposits, and is not something you can get from well-made Colloidal Silver.

Active Silver has never been reported to cause a single case of Argyria and will never do so. This is because we use an advanced manufacturing technique to produce Colloidal Silver at a concentration of 10-25ppm with a very small particle size of silver. We also never use Protein Synthesis to blend silver and water, which can cause Argyria and be dangerous.
