Top tip! If there are no cotton pads or similar available, you can use clean fingertips to work the product around your face. Handy if you are travelling!
 

Although micellar water is designed to be left on the skin, if you have very sensitive or acne-prone skin, some dermatologists recommend rinsing it off to reduce the possibility of irritation.

The history of Silver 

Silver has a long history of being valued for its health and wellness properties. Known for thousands of years to have natural antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, Silver can be effective against a wide range of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. These properties are due to Silver ions that can disrupt bacterial cell membranes, hindering their ability to function and reproduce. 

An ancient remedy

Roman soldiers were known to put silver coins in their mouths to protect them from illness, and right back to Ancient Greece, Silver coins were commonly added to vessels to keep water or milk fresh, by inhibiting bacteria growth. Hippocrates, the 'father of medicine', noted Silver's healing properties and used it to treat wounds and prevent infections. 

Today 

Silver is still used in modern medicine and water purification. For instance, Silver is often used in burn care to prevent infections, and wound dressings are infused with Silver. Historically appreciated for its healing potential, Silver remains a fascinating example of how ancient wellness practices intersect with modern science. Its responsible use in healthcare, wellness products, and even textiles, illustrates its enduring role in health related applications.

Colloidal Silver is a liquid made of nano-sized pure silver particles, suspended in ultra-pure water. This natural product can fight off infection and heal damaged skin. Silver is known to be effective against 650 strains of bacteria, viruses and fungi, so when used in skin care products there is no need to add any nasty artificial preservatives or parabens, meaning products are as natural and safe to use as possible.
 

Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a naturally derived fatty acid made from coconuts. It also works as a surfactant, so it lifts oil and grease, allowing for easier removal, as well as being a viscosity enhancer. It is commonly used in the manufacturing of shampoos, hair conditioners, hand soap, bubble bath, shower gels and industrial cleaning formulations. Due to its foaming properties and cleansing abilities, it works to break the tension in water and add bubbles to your formulations.

Pentylene Glycol is a vegetable-derived, environmentally-friendly ingredient and is suitable for natural cosmetic products. It is a humectant, meaning it binds well to water, making it a good hydrating agent and solvent to aid penetration of other ingredients. It also helps improve the texture of skin care formulas and has mild preservative properties. It's also Palm Free and PEG free, eco-responsible and a COSMOS approved ingredient. The Pentylene Glycol is sourced from Sugarcane and Corn by-product, so in effect it is extracted from residual waste (the dried pulp residue left over after the juice has been extracted). It is a clear colourless and odourless liquid. Pentylene Glycol Natural represents a unique option for the support and advancement of green cosmetics.

Cucumber Glycerine Extract provides instant cooling and hydration and helps strengthen the skin's natural moisture barrier to prevent future dehydration. Some say that cucumber’s soothing/anti-inflammatory properties are more reputed than scientifically-based, but cucumber extract does naturally contain a host of constituents that are beneficial for skin at the cellular level, including the minerals magnesium and potassium (which support the skin’s moisture retention and regulation), Vitamin C and the phytochemical caffeic acid (antioxidant benefits).

Lactic Acid we use this as a pH regulator, but it's rarely needed in this product. If we do use it, it's only a drop or two per batch. Lactic ac acid is great for dry, sensitive and mature skin types looking for cell turnover and a brighter complexion as it helps to soften and retain moisture. 

The INCI ingredients (listed in brackets) are the scientific/systematic names for the above ingredients, that are internationally recognised to identify cosmetic ingredients.
